Measuring Our Progress:

Students in grades 3 - 5, based upon the preliminary MCA scores for the 2024 school year, will increase proficiency from 40% to 45% and 43% to 48% in reading and math.

Measuring Our Progress:

Preliminary MCA scores from spring 2024 will be reviewed based upon 5th grade science increasing proficiency from 20% to 25% proficient.

• We will involve parents in the following tasks:

  • Planning and review of the Schoolwide Title I Plan

  • Planning and review of the Family Engagement Plan

  • Review and revise the Title I Compact

Planning and review of how we spend our Title I funding.

How will we do this?

PTO Dates are listed on the school website calendar:

• New Family Dinner

  • PTO Members, and families new to the school, along with all families with a child in Pre-K or Kindergarten will enjoy dinner together.  Following dinner, kids play in the gymnasium while parents and staff members have a discussion regarding the school, how to assist students, and so on.

    ●      October Meeting - Discussion and input regarding Title I

    ●      January or February Meeting - Information regarding staff, including Title I Staff Positions, for 2024 - 2025 School Year

    ●      May Meeting - Discussion regarding progress and Title I Plans for following year

    ●      Open House - Information provided and Title I Staff available to answer questions regarding Title I and how to support academics at home.

    ●      Base Camp Field Trip: This field trip is held on a weekend, parents/guardians must attend, and is designed to provide ideas to assist students at home who are not yet at grade level academically.

    ●      Conferences, twice-per-year: Review specific interventions and strategies to assist students at all academic levels.

• Parents, the entire school staff and students share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement to meet the state academic standards. A family-school compact will be shared with families at conferences.
• We will invite families to a Literacy night, an Excellence in Education night, and a Family Math night to help families to support their children’s academic achievement.
• We will work to build the capacity of our school staff to work with families.
• We believe in the importance of ongoing communication between families and school staff.

How/When will we do this?

• Base Camp Field Trip on November 6: This is an opportunity to both build relationships while engaging in meaningful conversations about academic achievement.
• New Family Dinner, September 20 at 5:00 p.m.:  All kindergarten and families new to Park Brook are welcome to enjoy dinner and then the adults sit in a semi-circle to both answer questions and review/discuss means to support academic growth including additional opportunities that Park Brook offers.
• All-School BBQ during lunch to connect with families and give families an opportunity to visit with staff.
• Open House will be held the week before school for parents to meet/greet teachers and receive contact information.
• Park Brook Elementary has a volunteer coordinator who will connect with families beginning with Open House to establish relationships and share how parents can be actively involved in the school.

• We believe all families should have equitable access to information from school.
   

How/When will we do this?

• Interpreters are available at any time for parents using Pacific Interpreters.  Staff have received instruction on how to use Pacific Interpreters on Google Meet and on phone calls.
• Park Brook’s website translates into Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong and Somali, which are the languages families speak at Park Brook.  If families speak another language, materials can be translated into preferred languages.
• Conference times are offered on three evenings both in the fall and winter, however, we adjust to meet the needs of the families.
• Talking Points will be used, which is an online text messaging system that translates either by person or digitally text messages based upon the families preferred language.  In addition, the messages are translated to English from families who have a preferred language other than English.

The following schools receive federal funds for programs that are part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended (2015): Crest View Elementary, Fair Oaks Elementary, Garden City Elementary, Palmer Lake Elementary, Park Brook Elementary, and North View Middle School.

Based on current education law, teachers must have earned State certification and licensure. State certification and licensure is the training required to be a teacher.

You have the right to request information about the professional qualifications of your child’s teacher(s) or paraprofessional(s). A paraprofessional provides academic or other support for students under the direct supervision of a teacher. If you request this information, the district or school will provide you with the following as soon as possible:

1.  If the teacher has met State certification and licensing requirements for the grade levels and subjects for which the teacher provides instruction;
2. If state certification and licensing requirements have been waived (are not being required at this time) for the teacher under emergency or other temporary status;
3. If the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline for which they are certified or licensed;
4. If the teacher has met State-approved or State-recognized certification, licensing, registration, or other comparable requirements. These requirements apply to the professional discipline in which the teacher is working and may include providing English language instruction to English learners, special education or related services to students with disabilities, or both; and
5. If your child is receiving Title I or Special Education services from a paraprofessional, his or her qualifications.

Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the social, academic and critical thinking he or she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled.

If you would like to request information about your child’s teacher(s) or paraprofessional(s), or if you have any questions about your child’s assignment to a teacher or paraprofessional, please contact the principal at your child’s school.
